Trapped in a world ruled by the ageless Arsídh, Bastien finds himself at the center of a gathering war. The Arsídh see him in terms of what they believe he carries; the militant Krypteia Skotos see him as the key to a forced experiment. Both have a purpose for him.
As Bastien uses his historian’s skills to decode the Krypteia’s propaganda, he uncovers the terrifying truth behind their promise of equality. Refusing to be either vessel or instrument, he searches for a third path.
